How to Use for Maximum Repair

Standard Deep Treatment (1-2 Times Weekly)

Step 1: Cleanse Thoroughly
Wash hair with your favorite FUL shampoo to remove dirt, oil, and product buildup. Thorough cleansing ensures the mask can penetrate rather than sitting on top of residue. Rinse completely.

Step 2: Towel Dry
Gently squeeze excess water from hair using a towel. Hair should be damp but not dripping—this allows optimal mask penetration without dilution. Avoid rough rubbing which damages wet, vulnerable hair.

Step 3: Apply Generously
Smooth generous amount of Intense Moisture Hair Mask through hair. Start with walnut-sized amount for medium-length hair and adjust based on thickness and length. Focus on mid-lengths and ends where hair is oldest and most damaged. If roots are also very dry, apply throughout all hair.

Step 4: Comb Through
Use wide-tooth comb or fingers to distribute mask evenly, coating each strand completely. This ensures comprehensive coverage and gently detangles while hair is protected by the mask's conditioning agents.

Step 5: Process (5-10 Minutes)
Leave mask on for 5-10 minutes. Standard processing (5 minutes) provides excellent moisture and repair for regular maintenance. Extended processing (10 minutes) delivers more intensive treatment for severely damaged hair. Use this time to relax—the mask is working deeply to transform your hair.

Step 6: Rinse Thoroughly
Rinse completely with lukewarm water until water runs clear. Hair should feel noticeably softer, smoother, and more manageable immediately.

The Result: Hair feels transformed—soft instead of rough, silky instead of straw-like, manageable instead of tangled. The deep moisture and repair create genuine improvement, not just temporary surface smoothing.

Intensive Overnight Treatment

For severely damaged hair needing maximum repair:

Apply Before Bed: After evening shower, apply mask generously throughout damp hair. Comb through for even distribution.

Protect Pillowcase: Cover hair with shower cap or wrap in towel to protect bedding.

Sleep: The extended processing time (6-8 hours) allows maximum penetration and repair. Ingredients work continuously while you sleep.

Morning Rinse: Wash out thoroughly in morning. Hair emerges dramatically softer, smoother, and more hydrated than standard 5-10 minute treatment provides.

Frequency: Use overnight treatment once weekly for intensive repair, or whenever hair needs extra rescue.

Why Damaged Hair Needs Intensive Treatment

Hair structure has three critical layers. The cuticle is the outer protective layer made of overlapping cells like roof shingles. When healthy, these cells lie flat and smooth, protecting the inner layers while reflecting light beautifully. The cortex is the middle layer containing the keratin proteins that give hair its strength, elasticity, and ability to hold moisture. The medulla is the innermost core, present in thick hair but absent or fragmented in fine hair. Damage compromises all three layers progressively.

Chemical treatments break down structure systematically. Colouring, bleaching, perms, and relaxers work by opening the cuticle, entering the cortex, and breaking protein bonds to change hair's structure or deposit colour. This process inevitably causes collateral damage: cuticle cells lift and some break off entirely, protein bonds break beyond what's necessary for the treatment, lipids that bind cuticle cells together dissolve and wash away, and moisture-retention capacity diminishes as structure becomes more porous. The more treatments hair endures, the more compromised it becomes.

Heat styling creates cumulative trauma. Each time you blow-dry, straighten, or curl, you're evaporating internal moisture and damaging protein structure through thermal stress. The cuticle becomes brittle and prone to chipping. The cortex develops weak spots where proteins have degraded. Hair loses elasticity—the ability to stretch and return to shape without breaking. Over months and years, this cumulative damage makes hair progressively more fragile, dry, and prone to breakage.

Environmental factors compound existing damage. UV rays oxidize and break down keratin proteins, making hair weaker and more brittle. Pollution particles create free radicals that attack protein bonds. Hard water deposits minerals that roughen the cuticle and prevent moisture absorption. Chlorine from swimming strips protective lipids. These environmental assaults don't cause dramatic instant damage—they create slow, accumulating deterioration that makes hair progressively worse despite consistent care.

Surface treatments can't address deep damage. Regular conditioners work primarily on the cuticle surface. They smooth and coat but don't penetrate to the cortex where structural damage exists. Severely damaged hair needs ingredients that can actually enter the hair shaft, bind to damaged proteins, replenish lost lipids, and rebuild moisture-retention capacity. Only intensive masks with concentrated repair ingredients and adequate processing time can deliver this level of restoration.

Glycerin - Moisture Binding Foundation

Glycerin is one of the most effective humectants known, meaning it attracts and binds moisture to hair with exceptional tenacity. This powerful ingredient nourishes and conditions while making hair noticeably softer through its moisture-binding mechanism.

In damaged, porous hair, glycerin serves a crucial role. Chemical processing creates gaps and holes in hair structure—imagine a sponge with many holes. This porous structure absorbs water quickly but loses it just as fast, leaving hair chronically dehydrated despite frequent conditioning. Glycerin changes this by binding water molecules directly to hair's protein structure through hydrogen bonding. The water doesn't just sit in the gaps temporarily—it becomes chemically attached to the hair itself, creating lasting hydration that survives rinsing and continues working for days.

VARISOFT® BT85 - Advanced Conditioning Technology

Hair naturally carries a negative electrical charge, which increases when hair is damaged. This negative charge causes strands to repel each other, leading to frizz, static, and flyaways—the telltale signs of damaged hair. VARISOFT® BT85 carries a positive charge that neutralizes this negative charge, allowing strands to lie smoothly alongside each other rather than repelling. This is why hair becomes immediately more manageable after using products containing this technology.

Beyond charge neutralization, VARISOFT® BT85 helps smooth the cuticle layer. When cuticles lie flat and sealed, hair reflects light more uniformly (creating shine), prevents moisture loss (maintaining hydration), and resists tangling (reducing breakage from mechanical stress). These benefits are particularly valuable for damaged hair where cuticles are lifted, chipped, or partially missing.

Shea Butter - Lipid Replenishment

Shea Butter, extracted from African shea tree nuts, provides rich moisture through its unique fatty acid composition. With 40-60% oleic acid and 20-50% stearic acid, plus vitamins A and E, Shea Butter delivers comprehensive benefits for severely dry, damaged hair.

The fatty acid profile is molecularly similar to the natural lipids found in healthy hair. This similarity allows Shea Butter to penetrate the hair shaft far more effectively than many moisturizing ingredients that just coat the surface. Oleic acid, a monounsaturated fatty acid, is small enough to slip between cuticle cells and enter the cortex, delivering deep moisture where damage is most severe. Stearic acid helps seal the cuticle, locking in moisture while creating smoothness that reduces tangling and breakage during styling.

The pH-Balanced Advantage

The mask's pH-balanced formula is specifically optimized for maximum effectiveness and hair health. Understanding hair's pH needs explains why this matters significantly.

Healthy hair has a natural pH of 4.5-5.5 (slightly acidic). This acidic pH keeps cuticles sealed and smooth, maintains the strength of protein bonds, prevents excessive swelling that weakens structure, and supports the scalp's protective acid mantle. Products with pH matching this natural range work with hair's biology rather than against it.

Alkaline products damage hair progressively. Many hair products—especially those containing certain detergents or high concentrations of proteins—have alkaline pH (above 7). Alkaline pH causes cuticles to lift and open, protein bonds to weaken, hair to swell excessively, and color to fade more rapidly. While temporarily lifting cuticles can allow penetration, it also makes hair vulnerable to damage and moisture loss.

pH-balanced formulas maximize penetration without damage. By maintaining optimal pH (4.5-5.5), this mask delivers deep moisture and repair without the cuticle-lifting damage that alkaline products cause. Ingredients penetrate effectively because the formula is optimized for absorption, but cuticles remain as smooth and sealed as possible throughout treatment. This means maximum benefit with minimal compromise—you get intensive repair without creating new damage in the process.

Organic Coconut Oil - Protein Protection & Shine

Coconut Oil is unique among hair oils due to its molecular structure. Composed primarily of medium-chain fatty acids—especially lauric acid at about 50%—Coconut Oil has a molecular size small enough to actually penetrate the hair shaft rather than just coating the surface.

This penetration ability creates distinctive benefits. Research demonstrates that Coconut Oil is one of the few oils that can reduce protein loss from hair during washing and grooming. Hair is approximately 95% protein (keratin), and every time you wash, brush, or style, small amounts of protein can be lost. This cumulative protein loss—especially severe in damaged hair with compromised structure—leads to progressive weakness, increased breakage, and loss of elasticity. Coconut Oil bonds to hair proteins and prevents this loss, essentially protecting the internal structure from further degradation.

Who Needs This Mask

Chemically Treated Hair

Colouring, bleaching, perms, and relaxers create structural damage requiring intensive repair. This mask replenishes what processing depletes.

Heat-Styled Hair

Daily blow-drying, straightening, or curling creates cumulative moisture loss and protein damage. Regular intensive conditioning maintains health despite thermal stress.

Very Dry Hair

Whether from natural texture, environmental exposure, or product damage, chronically dry hair needs the deep lipid and moisture replenishment this mask provides.

Damaged, Breaking Hair

If hair snaps easily, has excessive split ends, or breaks during brushing, the protein protection and moisture restoration help rebuild strength and flexibility.

Rough, Straw-Like Texture

When hair feels rough to touch and looks dull despite products, deep conditioning transforms texture by replenishing lost lipids and moisture.

Frizzy, Unmanageable Hair

Frizz often indicates damaged cuticles and dehydration. The smoothing, conditioning, and moisture-binding ingredients create lasting frizz control.

Dull, Lifeless Hair

Shine comes from smooth, sealed cuticles that reflect light uniformly. This mask smooths cuticles while hydrating for restored natural brilliance.

Tangled, Difficult Hair

Damaged hair with lifted cuticles catches on itself constantly. The conditioning and smoothing create slip that prevents tangling and reduces breakage.

Colour-Fading Concerns

Healthy, well-moisturized hair holds color longer. The repair and hydration help color last by improving hair's structure and moisture balance.

Sun-Damaged Hair

UV exposure oxidizes proteins and creates dryness. The antioxidants in Shea Butter plus deep moisture repair sun damage while protecting against future exposure.

Swimmers

Chlorine strips moisture and damages protein structure. Regular intensive conditioning counteracts chlorine's drying, damaging effects.

Anyone Wanting Salon-Soft Hair

That silky, smooth feeling you get leaving the salon comes from professional treatments. This mask delivers comparable results at home.
